Andratx in the South West of Mallorca is one of my favorite harbors in the world. It was also one of Lady Di’s favorite places. The Lady had taste!
A hidden gem, not discovered by many…. An up-market place, without it being too ‘snobby’.
You can anchor or grab a mooring in the stunning natural harbor and there are berths at the public and private jetties.
Yachties are welcome, there are dinghy docks everywhere.
Along the waterline you have a whole series of restaurants. Surprisingly they are all pretty good. The standard of this place is high.
One place that stood out with its original cuisine in combination with beautiful local seafood and produce is Restaurant “Brismar”, where you literally dine “on the water”.
The whole experience was lovely, from A to Z.
The Gin & Tonics and Hugo cocktails were executed with care.
The Carpaccio of local red prawns, with their sweet taste were exquisite.
The black rice with squid, prawns and artichokes were the best I have eaten so far. The sea bream Mediterranean style, just stunning. Not to mention the desserts…. deconstructed ’banoffee’ pie and brownie…. WOW. They know what they are doing!
You can also buy, for a very reasonable price, one of the wines that was served last at El Bulli, before it closed; Merluzo, Binifadet from Menorca (see photo). A delicious and interesting wine, only served in 3 restaurants in the world! Great in combination with seafood.
In peak season, it’s best to make a reservation, especially if you would like to dine on their pontoon.
